The main inspiration for this piece of work was a traditional Ukrainian necklace, gifted to me by my mother.

As can be seen in many other cultures, such jewellery possesses a lot of emotional weight for me and my family because of our nation’s history with artistic and cultural oppression.

In this project, I explored how being able to save and wear such jewellery breaks the cycle of generational trauma connected to the lack of representation and national pride.

My research is presented in the form of a posterzine using my original typeface.
